Google Cloud 237

Led concept, design and build of five permanent experiential installations for Google Cloud.

.

  • Managed multiple concept and design development workflows. Sourced and managed fabrication vendors to execute against final vision.

  • Led technology integration for IoT data driven experiences, navigating internal Google software teams and external partners.

  • Oversaw all elements of Living Building Challenge sustainability compliance.

  • Owned client communications, contract and scope development.

The Challenge:

237 MPD is the first ever Google-owned, Cloud-occupied building with the ambitious goal of becoming net zero carbon certified as part of its mission. While part of Google, the Cloud business is unique and was looking to find a new, original expression by adding permanent design installations for employees and guests alike to engage with the brand.

The Solution: By employing a rigorous design thinking approach, three key stories were identified to create a collection of interventions demonstrating the power of Google Cloud. A thoughtful mix of analog and technology integrated concepts ensured the installations provided both dynamic and visually impactful opportunities for users. Custom builds and thorough prototyping led the way to fabrication of five installations that allowed users to unearth 237 MPD’s uncompromising commitment to sustainability, its history, and its continued connection to Silicon Valley.

A multi-disciplinary design charrette kicked off concept development.
